MORE form take 2!

I’ve decided to take today off from university work, do a quick blog and then put my laptop away! As some of you know I am currently in Brasil, I have been living with my fiancé at his family home, which has been great and I am so grateful. However, I am not used to having so much free time on my hands and I have found myself constantly working on my module 2 portfolio out of mainly boredom (am I allowed to admit that?). I sometimes have to remind myself that this is a part time course and normally people are working full time and still managing to do their uni work… so I have decided I need to chill! We are in a pandemic still and times are hard!

As we are approaching the easter break I am happy with where I am at, I have submitted my first draft of my MORE form, started my proposal and am working through feedback on my literature review. Quite honestly though I am finding this the hardest part of module 2! I am finding it hard to find a fine line between showing my understanding of the literature I have chosen, but to not give away my opinion or be biased about my sources… I am praying that I have a lightbulb moment and it all just makes sense…

Anyway to the actual point of this blog…

More form Skype Take 2

(I did a blog a few weeks back about tips from watching the MORE form skype from last year, feel free to check that one out too!)

On the 23rd we had a extra module focus Skype with Helen to go over the more form. It was great and so informative! For anyone in module 2 who missed it, it was recorded and will be uploaded to uni hub. I am going to bullet point my notes from the discussion…

-Currently the rules are that you cannot do face to face interviews because of the current government guidelines. Therefore, for the MORE form you can either say you’re conducting online interviews or you can make a statement saying that if you are able to do your interviews face to face in September you will, but if you can’t then your back up plan will be to do them online.

-On the more form you can say no to additional uploads, it's not compulsory, however you must include an upload of  the participation information form / consent form / debriefing and Data protection declaration form

-You can make statements and bullet points on the more form rather than having to go into lots of detail (thats what the proposal is for)

-The relationship between the more form and the proposal is that any questions raised in the more form should be discussed in the proposal! To ensure you cover everything and have included your ethical considerations and procedures

-You don’t need to upload your interview question sample or survey, thats what module 3 Is for and you will get a 1-2-1 to discuss these next term.

-You are considered to be collecting personal data if you are doing interviews.

-Request the signature on the more form and then it will be sent to your supervisor. They can make notes and suggest the appropriate changes and then they will ‘reject’ your proposal in order for it to get sent back to you. It could happen a few times until your supervisor is satisfied with it!

-Employee consent for it to be handed in on turn it in at the end of the module. If you are self employed you can sign it yourself.

Hope this helps!

  1. Some great advise for future M2 students Emily! I think on initial look the MORE form can be pretty daunting but things like the recorded discussion on UNIHUB and blogs like yours can really help.
I too struggled with the Literature review, knowing what was the right thing to include etc. and am currently working through my feedback so I can totally relate. As much as I enjoyed reading all the literature and gaining more understanding, piecing all the parts together was definitely the biggest challenge I have faced on the course so far!

Draft deadline approaching

This module have been overwhelming to say the least! I now realise how fortunate I was to start this course in the pandemic and have so much free time to focus on my work. This time round I am abroad in America, working a full time job, I have very limited wifi, I am also Injured and have had so many different distractions! I am proud that I have managed to find the time to do the work, I am just questioning if I've understood the task at hand and if it's to a good standard, but I guess that's what drafts are for! I have found analysing my data very hard! I understand what the data means to me, however getting it down on paper is much harder than I imagined! initially I was scared about interviewing people but that seems to have been the easy part!  I think at the end of the day we all need to remind ourselves that this Inquiry wasn't to solve anything or prove something right or wrong it is to develop our practice and have a greater understanding of our professional fi...

Data Collecting!

I have now conducted all 6 interviews and honestly it has left me with more questions than what I feel like have been answered... I guess it was never the aim to answer our inquiry and our supervisors have always emphasised this, but now I feel like I have so much more that I need to research or it has given me new questions that I could start completely separate research projects about.  I was shocked that everyones answers were so different and so different to my own perspective on ‘ how does social media effect a professional dancers body image’. Potential themes that have reoccured that now I am going to find new literature on are… Pressure    -Pressure with Dance specific body image   -Pressure to promote / market themselves online  The words  FIT a nd  ATHLETIC   came up multiple times Filter     -Filtering what you view online. All my participants said that they really carefully consider what types of accounts that...

Welcome back! Welcome to Module 2!

I am excited to get my head stuck into some books again and continue this journey! A lot has happened in my life recently and I am now living in Brasil until May, so I will be doing this whole module here! I need to be extra organised and get my head around the time zones for all our BAPP skypes. So far from talking to peers on the course and looking over the handbook I feel like I am back at the beginning and it all feels so daunting again! I felt like this at the start of module 1 and we all managed to get through that… so I am sure we will conquer this too! Tonights welcome back Skype I felt was a great way to get my head back into ‘uni-mode’ and it was lovely to see everyone again and of course welcome the module 1s onto the course.  Helen made some great points about just delving into the course and yourself as an artist. She spoke about how some of us may feel distant because of the current pandemic, which is something I really resonate with. It’s coming up to a year since I ...
