The MORE form?

Today I felt guilty over not doing any uni work this weekend and after having an unexpected MANIC Monday, I decided I wanted to be productive this evening, without having to read text and after text... as quite honestly my brain can’t take it today…. I remember some students saying that there was video on uni hub that explains how the MORE form works. It’s a recorded Skype session, that goes through the form step by step and the supervisors answer some of the previous students questions. I actually found this so helpful and informative. It was always my plan this week to pull up the MORE form to start to look at questions that I need to answer to be able to write my inquiry proposal. Much to my surprise a lot of the form seems to be straight forward and theres many multiple choice questions where we just tick whats relevant to our inquiry. A few things I wrote in my notes were : -The MORE form is always considered a new application- even when your supervisor has given you feedback to a...

All Module Skype 17th and Module 2 Skype 18th Feb

Wow two skypes in two days! It’s actually been so nice to chat with everyone, firstly in the all module skype last night and again just now with the module 2 skype. It’s lovely to be reminded that we aren’t alone and that theres a lot of support and amasing ideas to be shared… Something I know I personally need to look into more is ethics and from learning about module 2 already it’s unavoidable to not think about them whilst planning our inquiries. A lovely module 3 student broke down ‘Ethical Considerations’ and ‘Ethical Procedures’ to us in such a simple way that I found so helpful. Ethical Considerations - Things that will be affected / consequences of actions Ethical Procedures - Things that are put into place to avoid a negative impact / or harm Helen said to think about the ethics in our inquiry and what procedures we can put into place to avoid any negative impacts. However that be said, she said, we can only plan so much and that we always have to accept an amount of uncert...

Down the rabbit hole...

Today I fell down the rabbit hole of the internet…. After my 1-2-1 with my supervisor, I have decided that my inquiry will somewhat be about ‘Dancers body image’, something I am sure many of us have questioned or experienced in our dancing life. I am still unsure about what my specific focus or ‘question’, ‘title’ will be yet, as it’s such a broad subject, but after reading article after article, ‘social media’ particularly ‘instagram’ kept creeping into the more up to date information out there… We all do it, (or I applaud you if you don’t), scroll through instagram daily and sometimes forget about the fact that people use photoshop and other editing apps, the “influencers” hire professional photographers for their staged photoshoots and the majority of the time people only post the ‘good stuff’. However, on the other hand throughout my reading session It was refreshing to see some of those blue ticked Insta pages and renown professional dancers, were calling out the crap and bein...

Finding a focus?

After the Skype on Friday, reading some blogs and chatting to some peers, I feel a little clearer about whats being asked of us for module 2. I have my 1-2-1 with my supervisor Helen tomorrow, so hopefully she will be able to clear up some of my questions… .... MIND MAPPING I always find a good old fashioned mind map gets my thoughts flowing and gets it all down on paper. This is how I started to discover ‘what is my practise’ and my ‘areas of learning’ for module 1. So theres a little bit of advice for anyone in module 1 who’s stuck where to start! I am hoping that my conversation tomorrow will spark some inspiration and then I can crack on with starting… but for now here are a few topics of interest that I could potentially delve into for my inquiry. How are you all getting on and does anyone else have any tips on how to come up with your inquiry topics?

Welcome back! Welcome to Module 2!

I am excited to get my head stuck into some books again and continue this journey! A lot has happened in my life recently and I am now living in Brasil until May, so I will be doing this whole module here! I need to be extra organised and get my head around the time zones for all our BAPP skypes. So far from talking to peers on the course and looking over the handbook I feel like I am back at the beginning and it all feels so daunting again! I felt like this at the start of module 1 and we all managed to get through that… so I am sure we will conquer this too! Tonights welcome back Skype I felt was a great way to get my head back into ‘uni-mode’ and it was lovely to see everyone again and of course welcome the module 1s onto the course.  Helen made some great points about just delving into the course and yourself as an artist. She spoke about how some of us may feel distant because of the current pandemic, which is something I really resonate with. It’s coming up to a year since I ...
