Essay writing and Areas of learning

I have started to piece my essay together and plan a structure... but in all honestly, I am crossing my fingers and hoping for the best!

Essay writing doesn't come naturally to me and I keep questioning myself if I have gone deep enough into my theories and research! The draft hand in date is starting to quickly get closer!

Here is a mind map I created a few weeks ago to try and choose my areas of learning... I have solidified two but I keep changing my mind on my third! In some respects there are so many areas of learning I could acknowledge in my practise, as all my training and during every professional contract I have learnt so many new things! Our practises are constantly developing!

Today I plan on chaining myself to a desk to get productive!

Wish me luck x

  1. Good luck! Hope it starts to make sense for you. Love the mind map! I am with you on the changing my mind about what to talk about and wondering if I need to research more, but I'm thinking of it a bit like choreography where I can keep going back to it and changing it ! x

  3. Hi Emily, I love your mind map! I completely understand how you are feeling, I am at a similar stage to you. I just keep reminding myself that this draft is not the final edit, can we expect it not to be perfect! Good luck for today! x

    1. Yes!!! its a draft hehe not the final submission! I need to keep telling myself that and remembering that we will have feedback from what we have produced and time to make amendments! :) I hope yours is coming together too!

  4. I absolutely felt the same way and changed my mind a number of times on the areas of learning. I've just sent my draft essay in now and it feels like such a relief! Like Alice says it's just a draft so we still have time to make changes. Good luck!

Interviews! Interviews! Interviews!

Interviews? Yesterday module 2 had a really insightful discussion session with supervisor Sam Murray who specialises in ethnographic research. Below are some of the key points that Sam raised in the discussion for anyone that missed it! Also this will be helpful to revisit and reflect on when we are in module 3 and actually have to create our interview questions!!! (dun dun duuuuuunnnn!!!!!!!- This scares me haha) Sams Interview Hints and Tips -In an interview think of being a data collection computer, you want to take in lots of information and learn new things! -Don’t ask leading questions and don’t have a fixed idea. You want to be open and use broad questions to get as much out of the discussion. Don’t force your opinion. -Let the data speak for its self  -In an interview you will always be surprised by peoples answers, so don’t presume what they are going to say. -You are collecting peoples stories -Create a set of questions that are open and that you feel confident asking! -W...

Colour Psychology

Well done on everyone getting their essay drafts done! What a relief! I am looking forward to getting my feedback so I can get stuck in and amend what needs to be changed and get this module ticked off!  ...  Colour evokes feeling.  Colour incites emotion. AM BAPP Twillight Nov 25th Skype - Summerising

Summerising ‘Summarising is defined as taking a lot of information and creating a condensed version that covers the main points.’ Yourdictionary.com. 2020. SUMMARIZING | 2 Definitions Of Summarizing - Yourdictionary . [online] Available at: <https://www.yourdictionary.com/summarizing> [Accessed 26 November 2020]. Todays Skype was about summarising what we are working on at the moment. For module 1, this is our essay and our artefact reflecting on our practise. I must admit, I listened to a lot of this session and I found it particulary interesting to listen to the module 3 students talking about their final projects and artefacts! Adesola explained that the artefact is just a different way of communicating and expressing what we have written in our essays. She explained that you should be able to look at someones essay and their artefact and know that they are linked and are reflection of each other. Obviously I have been busy making my artefact and I feel like the more time I sp...
